Since the rise of popularity in healthy living and eating, we now have such a range of international health food products on our supermarket shelves that we eat ‘because they are healthy’ without having any idea where they really came from. I know I do.
My blog aims to trim down the saturated fat content and give you the most important five facts (the who, what, when, where and how) so that even though you may not be out picking it straight off the tree or hunting it down with your bow and arrow, we can at least teach you a few things about what you are putting in your mouth.
I have recently spent five years travelling around some weird and wonderful countries and met some crazy people, but there was one lesson I learnt which really stood out for me.
Through watching each individual culture, I came to the realisation that there is no one way of being healthy, happy and fulfilled in life. There is no ONE diet that works for everyone. Just like there is no one person who everyone will fall in love with.
It is entirely up to you as an individual to design your own life and do the things that make you feel great. In other words, in fact - you could stop reading now because you shouldn't need my advice!
However, we are not cavemen and we are not tuned up to be very intuitive when it comes to listening to our own bodies and feeding ourselves what we need. We would rather listen to advertisements and feel like crap than eat nourishing foods and feel incredible. Weird huh?
So - I then developed an interest in what was fuelling these healthy, happy people and took to learning about what certain foods can do for us and why we should eat what 'the experts' tell us to. We have so many new and exotic health foods on our supermarket shelves that promise to make us clean, lean fighting machines but do we even know what they are?
This is turn led me to begin my studies at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, one of the biggest nutrition schools in the world, where I am currently studying to become a Health Coach.
Through this blog, I hope to inspire you to be interested and educated about what you are putting in your mouth, where the food you are eating actually comes from, and how we can continue to lead the lives we love without the guilt, stress and confusion which is often associated with a healthy lifestyle.
It can only be onwards and upwards from here!
